"Antiquing"

Old Stuff

I enjoy meandering around antique stores and salvage shops...I get a sense of nostalgia and comfort when I come across items that remind me of my childhood.

For this personal project, I got permission from a local architectural and design salvage shop to shoot objects of interest.

Gear and Shoot

Canon 5D MK IV
Canon 24-105mm f4
Canon 70-200mm f2.8

This was a hand-held shoot as there was really no room for flash stands or tripods.  I find the Canon 5D MK IV my go-to for  extremely low light conditions in this modified airport hanger-like structure.

To the right is a stack of 2 x 4s that have weathered from exposure.

Old school, and very well-worn, boxing gloves

A 19th Century grape harvesting bin (winery)

Fisherman's mooring line

Fine Art Farm Equipment

I decided to pick up a couple of pieces of equipment and shoot them as fine art pieces!

Originally shot on 50% grey background, independently lighting from multiple directions, and then blending as one image for depth.  Using the 50% grey background allowed me to use a nice grunge overlay.  I then finished up with a tintype border.

Another version using an old, rusted crane hook, was presented to the shop owners.
